HelenMac what wonderful news, congrats and here's hoping for a fantastic start to 2014 for you!!!

Pihu, that sounds just awful about being on pred for a year… how did that happen if you don't mind me asking? Did a doctor advise you to do that?

I'm with Genea and find them to be the best IVF clinic as they really are world leaders in what they do… who was your doc there? I can highly recommend Dr Livingstone in Sydney city but you will find with any doctor there that you will need to just do Dr M's protocol with or without them knowing. Dr Reid there is very pro immune treatment I have been told and he is lovely but Dr M is the only one who treats aggressively and properly according to the USA protocols. You can't do IVF with Dr M, you have to go to a clinic. Maybe stick with Genea but change doctors?

Make sure you get general tests done by your GP who knows you have been on steroids for a year and make sure you are looking after yourself to protect yourself and your coming embryos and babies, VERY important to replenish what the pred took from you before trying to conceive again.

    All the best with everything!!!

Has anyone had intralipids done the day after egg collection and had a BFP? i.e. the day you find out if you have any normally fertilized embryos? I'm reluctant to have intralipids 7-10 days prior as last time we didn't get to transfer and it's costly… my FS wouldn't refer me to somewhere cheaper in Sydney unfortunately, he doesn't believe in them of course! thanks!

Soclose, hope your biopsy etc goes well!

Thanks so much for the MTHFR info! I ended up speaking to a scientist at the lab who said that the a1298c has no real significance and is not routinely tested for unless requested. The c677 is the main one that causes issues apparently? They did say that approx 1/3 of the population have either mutation so it seems very common. 1/3 of the population definately dont have fertility issues so will be interesting to see what my naturopath says about it. My homocysteine and folate levels are fine so fingers crossed it doesnt put me at higher risk for any issues! If ur blood results for homocysteine and folate r ok do u know if extra vitamins r still needed?

Precious Heart.... I can't answer your question, but I just wanted to throw is that I had Intrallipids 7-10 days before estimated EPU, but of course, now I've stimmed longer than normal so by EPU on Friday it will be 13 days beforehand. I'm wondering whether now, it won't work and I've wasted my money?

Hi Ladies, been a long time since I posted but I have been following along the new thread and cheering you all on your different journeys.

Libelle - congratulations on your BFP and hearing that little heartbeat hope there is no more bleeding

Sooty may - I have been following your recent donor cycle in SA and was really hoping this would be the cycle for you. So sorry it was not meant to be, and now you have these elevated CA125 levels to deal with as well. Perhaps your new doctor will be able to uncover if these are related to your unsuccessful cycle? The more testing my hematologist does on me the more issues he seems to find. Good luck with the blood tests and the MRI on Wed, hope this Dr has some answers for you.

MGC Bertie - good luck with the jabbing, hope your E2 levels cooperate and this cycle goes ahead.

So close - good luck with your hysteroscopy and biopsy. I've not had this with Dr M, but plenty of times down in Melbourne as a day procedure.

Hummingbird1 - not sure about the IgA testing, are you seeing a haemotologist? Dr Ellims in Melbourne is great and diagnosed my Protein C blood clotting disorder. I am homozygous for C677T MTHFR so on aspirin, Clexane and 5mg Megafol folic acid to counteract my body's inability to absorb folate properly. Not sure about the A1298C variation, hopefully it's not as serious but Dr M or a haemotologist will be able to advise.

Elarwood - hope your consult with Dr M on Friday went well. Sorry to hear your latest result is not where it needs to be. My experience with chemicals is many and what did the trick for us was switching to dexamethasone instead of prednisolone. It is stronger and better at restricting NK cell activity.

Cappy - everything crossed and lots of sticky vibes for you and your BT on Wed

Gentay - as Timetoshine said, cost for iVIG is fairly prohibitive so not usually done before conception is confirmed (either via IVF or after BFP). intrallipids are shown to be equally effective and much more affordable. What steroids are you on? Have you tried dexamethosone instead of Prednisolone? I fell pg naturally on dexamethasone having tried IVIG and Pred on a PGD cycle which didn't work the previous month.

PreciousHeart - Dr Sacks at IVF Australia tests for activated NK cells, but has developed his own testing protocol here in Australia. He is the only Aus Dr I am aware of (aside from Dr M) who might have a test akin to what Dr Sher is referring to. Otherwise you can test with Dr Sher and send your bloods over to him to be tested.

Welcome Pihu, sorry to hear you were on Pred for so long, definitely take time to rebuild your body before trying again, good luck for 2014.

Helenmac - so happy you've got 2 beautiful blasts on board, and two on ice. Everything crossed for you and your much deserved BFP!

AFM -  22 weeks this week.  Down to 2.5mg Pred (will be until 24 weeks), aspirin, 60mg Clexane, Megafol, Vit D, 2 x calcium and Blackmores Pregnancy Gold daily. Everything traveling well and wanted to share my regime as this forum is the only reason we are where we are now.

Timetoshine you are what keeps is all going when we are losing all hope. Without hearing from our immune pregnant ladies its easy to fall back into our old ways of thinking that we will never have a baby.

Thank you for thinking of me. I had my hysteroscopy and biopsy late late last night. Wow what a crazy day getting to Sydney and back home. But Dr M was lovely and I felt so much better actually meeting him even though it was quickly before I was knocked out

I met leosmum in reception! I went to the toilet and when I came back you were gone. Was nice to meet another Dr M patient but wish we had more time for a chat. Hope your biopsy went well xx

Will catch up soon with everyone xx

    Hello everyone…
Timetoshine – thanks for explain it to me. All the very bestfor your journey. Did dr. M helped you to conceived again & helped to controlledyour NK cells? Sorry for asking stupid questions but I can built my hope, iffound someone like me having baby. Thanks again.
PreciousHeart – I don’t mind sharing anything which isuseful for others. That way someone else does not has to suffer like me. I wasso happy when I conceived in first go & second time within 4-5 months. (Unfortunatelymiscarried both the time). After that my GP advised me to see Dr. DavidGreening, who is also member of Genea. When I saw him first was very impressedwith his finding. He put me on 25 mg pred/per day. I was so hopping that will conceivesoon. Every month I had passed was so hopeful & awful for us. After 6 months without any success when we sawDr. Greening again he suggested us to go for IVF. We thought might be goodoption for us. Unfortunately didn’t get positive result. I spoke with Dr. aboutit & he simply said that will go for another transfer the very next month. Itmight be routine for him but for us to get negative result is very very hard tohandle. We asked for some time to come out of it.
We requested dr. to do my biopsy again before we go for anothertransfer but he was not ready to do that. He was so much confident about histreatment. By the time I was also started getting lots of side effects of pred L. After so many requests,we convinced him to do biopsy again. Everything was planned accordingly to mycycle. We both were shocked, When wewent to see him on my biopsy day, he forgot everything about it. He didn’trecall that we were there for biopsy. He did biopsy after we told him. (Resultcame for biopsy was normal thought). In the same appointment he advised us totake second opinion from Dr Gavin., but we read so many things about Dr. M soalso asked for his referral too. We saw both the dr’s but decided to go withDr. M. I stopped completely pred in Nov & ready for my first intralipidnext month.
I have also read online in different forum that it’s notonly me who had a problem in conceiving while on pred. Everyone was completing about this steroid. Dr. M has also asked me that I might need totake steroids but only for couple of day not months or years.
As we saw two specialists, according to them no one no one should be on 25 pred/day for year. It hard tobelieve that Dr. David Greening one of the best doctor in Wollongong, prescribedme this steroid for year. He still was not in favour to stop me pred. I requestedhim so many times & also told him about side effects too. But he didn’tchange his treatment. I am sorry to say but had very bad experience about him.
LiteFantastic – all the very best to you. I hope everythinggoes with you J& thanks heaps for your best wishes.
I also wanted to ask if someone had Neupogen injectionsbefore? Dr. M has advised me that I need to start them ASA get positive result. He also mentioned that we can get it cheap from overseas. One of my friends iscoming from overseas, so thinking to ask her to get some for me. Could anyoneplease give me idea how much we might need? Dr. M has asked me to get 3-4boxes.
    Sorry again for long post.
    Thanks everyone.. J
