    Default Cancelled rent assistance

Honestly this is the stupidest thing I've ever come across. Centrelink have cancelled my rent assistance because my relationship status has changed

I know let's take $ off her because she's newly single & doesn't need it & doesn't need to pay rent to keep a roof over her & her children's head Honestly wtf ?
Says I can only get a rent assistance form via online services & when I try it tells me service unavailable & can't get to centrelink office
I duno how to fix this any help?

I couldn't locate the form online so I just rang them. They said that I could only get it from calling them anyway. You need to fill it out and send a copy of your rental agreement.

This happened when I moved and had a new address and rental agreement. They back pay you though. Just call them.

I called before & the automated ph thing says can do it online but opted for call back option cause wait was 40 mind n can't afford the huge ph bill to wait on hold
But what gets me is I haven't moved I have been in this house almost 4 yrs & the amount of rent I pay hasn't changed.
    Frustrating :-(

It's pretty standard for all payments to be cut when your relationship status changes. I know it did for me.
Do you have a copy of your lease? Can you take a photo of it and upload it to the vault?
I know that's all I needed despite my ex's name still being on the lease when I separated.
Good luck. Hope it all gets sorted quickly!

I simply just changed my rent amount and ut canceled my rent assistance. Any change u make they have to re verify it, its stupid. It created a debt if over $5000 for 2 fin yrs!! I got it sorted but it worked to my favour cause I ended up with backpay of approx $900. So as stupid as it is the system does it. I

    Yes this ^^^

I adjusted my rent increase of $10 p/w online and it cancelled my rent assistance altogether. I had to go into the centrelink office and have an interview and provide proof of the increase.

Thanks everyone they called me back & fixed it all up thankfully I didn't have to go into centrelink cause I had given them a rent certificate within last 12 months & nothing has changed so now it's all fixed & I can afford to pay rent.
Just the way they went about it was frustrating like I'm newly single I kinda need the $ to pay the rent

Might depend who you get on the phone - they've cut mine in error before, and the customer service woman I spoke to just checked a box and it was reinstated & backpaid. Hope it sorts out quickly for you. Stressful when you need the $$.

Cross posted - glad it was so easy!
