    Default 80s Wedding theme?

    Hi Everyone,

I haven't been at all excited about planning my wedding (been there, done that). Then, I heard St Elmo's Fire in the radio and I was inspired.

Question; If you received an inviteto a wedding with an 80s theme, would you happy about it?
(I don't want to drive my guests away)

    Thanks in advance!

I'd be fine with it, so long as I didn't have to dress to the theme. I think asking people to wear a certain style of clothing is a bit of an imposition and may well put people off.

If I know you IRL I will hate you as you stole my idea!

I think its fine, and i'd make everyone dress up - if you don't want to dress up you don't have to come in my opinion. (more food/alcohol for everyone else )

Pro's & con's I guess? People might save money by not having to buy a new outfit, but others might find it an inconvenience having to buy something specific to wear. And then theirs the people that have one set of special clothes from 30 years ago that they drag out regardless of whether there's a theme that would fit in for a change!

If you don't go for a 'dress up wedding', you could still have an 80's themed wedding but make your hens do 80's dress up. Fun!

I know the young ones these days find 80s fashions somewhat cool.... But having lived through the 80s myself i just dont get it. Fashion was BAD.... And noone wants to go to a wedding looking tragic. I'd love the 80s music though.

Ha! I love thinking of the pros and cons side!

    Come on!
    Think of it!
All those people who wanted to be invited to a yuppie 80s Wedding can finally get their chance!

    I'm thinking..
Vases on each table with coloured layered sand.
A flower arch at the 'alter' and doves at the end of the ceremony (ok, I'll skip the doves).
Colored suits, sunglass and big earrings!
    Balloons and tinsel!
    It will be amazing!
    And the dancing!

I was a teenager in the 80's. Those photos make me cringe. I thank god every day that I didnt have to get married with big hair and leg of mutton sleeves.

I would be super excited to go! I suggested an 80's theme to my husband but he wasn't having it.
I love the 80's, the music, the clothes, I think it'd be fun
