    Default What happens if you forget to vote??

    I just realised I completely forgot to vote yesterday!!!! Gah!!! Am I in great big trouble??

    From memory I received a $50 fine. Or was it $100? Anyway I got a fine but wrote to them saying I was sick that day and never heard back. So am assuming it got squashed? Lol hope so

    Just write and tell them you are recovering from major surgery, include a copy of something that shows it. They won't fine you if you have a good reason.

    I got fined twice. Just had to write an explanation as to why, take it to a JP to sign, and the fine was wiped.
    I didn't actually get fined until a couple of years after the poll either.

    I feel a bit guilty though cos I genuinely just forgot :/ You wouldn't think it'd be possible with all the stakes holding posters of heads all down my street!! Ha
