Default Gold Coast University Hospital - tell me your stories

Not sure this is the right spot, but i was wanting to hear peoples experiences at the new Gold Coast Hospital, the good and the bad, I have had children at Logan and Mater previously and i adore Mater but it is just too far to travel so i am booked in at GCUH this time, but being so new i wanted to hear some stories

Hi, ive been under care there since the old one closed down and find it nothing but fantastic. Im complicated so im there 2 times a week. Ive also had all my scans and bloods done there. Im due to birth at the end of this month. All the rooms are nice and individual with shared ensuites. Some have private ensuites and day beds for partners. Ive worked in the mater and logan and the old gold coast and I would choose GCUH anyday.

I am being classed as high risk and under complete OB care, due to have a scan there at the end of the month, but was told DP might not be allowed in for the morphology scan, which we are not impressed with, apart from that, i have liked the midwives and antenatal clinic.
How do the shared ensuites work? Between 2 rooms?

Haha i actually thought the food at Mater was pretty good for hospital, but then again i think anything that gets bought to your room, that you don't have to cook is pretty good lol

I loved the food at the Mater haha I think I was just stoked that someone was cooking and bringing me food for once. I've had 2 deliveries at the Mater but am due have my third at GCUH in February. I'm really excited about it, it looks amazing. The midwife who booked me in also told me that the father is able to stay overnight too. I think that's fantastic, and I'm more excited about that than anything.

Yes, I forgot to mention tbe delivery suites have something like 20 birthing pools as well. If your high risk they will still let you labour in one just not birth. All the monitors are also wireless so you can shower and walk around as well. I hated my induction with my son for thst reason I wasn't able to do what came naturally but in the newer hospitals they have newer equipment.
