I really feel for you and your kids Losing a pet is devastating and even more so in the postion you are in I hope the burial can give you all some sort of closure.

And good on you for not letting people get to you they aren't worth your time

Oh my gosh.. How judgemental people are!
I surrendered my dog a year ago because he growled and snapped at my 1 year old, then tried to bite him on the face. Then he tried to bite me on the leg. He had no injuries or pain. i initially got him from a pet rescue organisation and he had never shown aggression before, or that I was made aware of. I spent a week trying to find a viable solution which didn't involve euthanasia.
I rang the RSPCA first who immediately said to surrender him to them and they would euthanise as they would not rehome him. I called the vet for advice. He said the same. I called three rescue organisations and they weren't keen either. Sometimes animal temperaments change and sometimes we don't know why. Sometimes it is the best course of action for the safety of all involved.
As for telling the OP that she shouldn't own animals again, she explained that her financial circumstances have changed. It's all well and good to tell people to account and budget for animals but something as unpredictable as this cant always be accounted for, especially with the financial issues she is having. Im sure with all that shes been through, this is the last thing OP wanted to happen.
Would you resent her for having children because all of a sudden she is struggling? Should she not have anymore when she is financially stable again because one day, a relationship might break down and she may be left without an income? Unexpected things happen. Circumstances change.
I'm deviating but it's just as ludicrous as stating she should never have another pet.

    I agree with this 100%.

A cuppa might be a nice break for you all as well.

    Hugs xx

I'm really disappointed with a few posts in this thread. One of those days I just look at the hub and shake my head.

I'm sorry this has happened jagamoe. I don't think your thought process was wrong or ******** or unacceptable at any time. I feel so terribly sorry for your poor kids and you having to help them through it. Give each other lots of cuddles and stop coming in here to be castigated by anyone.

OP has handled the situation and therefore no longer requires help with the decision process, so I will close this thread.
