    Default Gestational Diabetes Chat

Am I the only one that has found it hard to find info and support online for GD? I'd love to have this thread open for anyone that has questions, general chat etc about GD

This is my second bub, 8 weeks to go and I've been on the GD train since 12 weeks. Insulin (14 units at night) pretty much from the start.

I've had a few people seem shocked that the OB so far hasn't said anything about me going early etc... My last bub I went full term - he was 8 pound 9. GD was diet controlled.

I wouldn't be on insulin if they didn't lower the levels >:-/ but hoping bub may be a bit smaller as my levels have had to be lower and it's been monitored longer..

Hope to hear from other mums who have had GD or have GD and need support

I have it too Its insulin controlled, my levels were elevated but not too high. I've only been diagnosed for a few weeks, I passed the first one, but because I've had it in the past they retested and I failed. My Bub is pretty big, she's on the 98th percentile, so we'll be getting a c section this time around.
I'm finding the diet pretty easy, and I'm managing the injections and testing better than I thought I might (not a fan of needles lol). The hospital have been great, very supportive, so that's made it all so much easier
I hope your going well with it all

We seem to be following each other in threads

I'm doing ok! Have had a few higher readings but mainly because it's been sooo long and I've been naughty a few times. I've lost weight with both pregnancies and generally feel so much better and I know the bub will be better off!

Insulin started at 10 units and have only gone up twice (12, 14) which I was warned would maybe happen.

Yeah the needles suck but they're not too bad...

Can't wait to have some chocolate cake hehe

I got Pat Preston's latest cookbook, it's been taunting me with its ultra delicious looking recipes lol. I keep telling DH I'll make him something naughty in 7 weeks (no way I'm missing out on those cupcakes lol).
I think I'll continue on the diet (for the most part ) after Bub is born, I've actually been enjoying the salads for lunch

Did either of you have trouble breast feeding? It's something I've kinda wanted to do research into! Miados did you have a natural birth?

I had GD with my last bub and was on insulin 4 times a day. DD actually stopped growing when I started the insulin and I was induced at 38+3. I'm now 11wks with number 2 and have some questions - to the mummies who have had it before, when did you get sent for your GD test and did I see a PP say the levels have been lowered?? What are they now?

Hi! I'm 30 weeks and was diagnosed about four weeks ago. My fasting levels aren't too great so I'm starting insulin tomorrow. Finding it really tough!

Im Insulin dependent too. Im 33wks today. Ive been on it for 2wks so far. My insulin started at 4-4-0-6 and im currently on 16-6-0-30

Im yet to get a Fasting level under the limit, so it just keeps getting increased (9times in 14days). I had a chat with the endo today and he wanted to start me on Metformin as it looks like ill be on extreme doses of insulin overnight by the time i get to term. With my history of HG (which is still lingering) he decided high doses of insulin would be more effective than me throwing up the Metformin.

Im honestly struggling with it. It just doesnt seem like it will be in control any time soon. My bub was measuring in the 43rd %ile at 29wks, so she is on the smaller side so im looking at refusing their routine induction at 38wks. I get a scan next week to see how big she has grown.

    Any ideas on lunch recipies??
