    Default Coeliac and ttc

    Hi,

I have recently been diagnosed with this and been totally gluten free for around 2 weeks. I am having problems with my cycle no doubt from the coeliac. I was given the advice by a naturopath to hold off ttc (#2) for 6 months while my body heals. I am feeling a bit impatient! Just wondering how other coeliacs went ttc and carrying a baby.

    Thanks

Hi, I was diagnosed coeliac 5 years ago, this was before we were ttc so I'm not sure if I would have had trouble falling pregnant or not...although fertility issues is common for those with undiagnosed coeliac. Since going gluten free I've felt a million times better and have since fallen pregnant relatively easily with DD1, had a easy pregnancy and she at this time does not follow a gluten free diet and shows no signs of coeliac herself. I am currently carrying bub number 2, fell pregnant 2nd cycle and all going well thus far. Am happy to answer any questions you may have. I know it's daunting at the start but once you get the hang of things you'll feel so much better for it

Thanks mamaally! Great to hear you have a bub and another on the way

Yes I am feeling amazing compared to how I was! I did some more reading last night and read an article by a specialist who recommends holding off ttc for 6 months to 2 years. Sigh. So I just need to suck it up and wait!

Thanks again and all the best with your pregnancy
