Most of the time no. But I always asked my mum to stay for 2,5 months after I gave birth to both kids. I get along well with her, she was such great help and I was hopeless with newborn..lol..She didnt mind helping and luckily she gets along well with DH as well.

Good for her. My friend I speak of is not offered help, she demands it.

For those saying they have friends that receive help and you know they don't need it, how do you know? Many people often do not tell others (even those close to them) that they are struggling. I kept my depression secret for years from people outside DH and my parents. Or maybe their family members just really love being involved. There are always just so many assumptions (in general) about what somebody's situation or family dynamics are.

My parents generally have my son one night a week, and pil like to have him one afternoon a week. My husband had a severe spinal injury about a year ago and recovery was months. Now I'm 37w utd and struggle with spd. We do need the help at the moment, but when we don't anymore, our parents will still probably do the same thing because they love doing it and ds loves them for it. We are definitely a village raising a baby

I didn't say my friend didn't need it, just that I don't understand.

I don't need it but jeez it makes such a huge difference when it's available. Like my sister helping out or MIL staying.
