Oh Hun, I would definitely get a second opinion, go see an FS and see what they say. There are lots of women I'm sure TTC #1 over 40 that can fall naturally, good luck, hope you find some answers soon x

Lei I'm so sorry you've had to endure this news. Definitely go get a second opinion; lots of doctors look only skin deep and don't bother going any further and just make judgements and assumptions.
I know it's horrible to think, but do you maybe have a sister who would consider lending an egg or two? Then you both would still be 100% related to bub. Sorry to even mention it but it's a thought....

Hi, can I please be put down for the 16th. I can't believe it's almost a year since my surprise BFP (that ended in MC) and started my ttc journey.
I know it's not that long in comparison to many here, I'm just so surprised (& sad) that its taking this long. My youngest wi be 4 in July. The gap is widening fast
    :-(
Best of luck to us all x

Nope. This is the positive thread, so I say you'll get your BFP in November. I'll only add you IF the witch arrives. ... unless you insist (I'm not a monster)

I had a consult with my doctor today, just monitoring a few minor health issues - not fertility related, and we talked about my wanting to fall pregnant, and how I fell the first time we tried earlier this year, ending in a missed miscarriage.

He looked at my age (42) and my low AMH levels and basically just told me to give up. He started talking about donor eggs, going to the US to buy a egg, asking my sister if she would donate one etc - all as if he was talking about the weather - no big deal... He said he was just giving me a reality check as I'm thinking emotionally, not sensibly.

I am just busted. I can't stop crying, I want a baby so badly - I have a very long, very sad story about why I'm only just starting to TTC now at this age, and I know I've likley missed my chance, but I still had some hope seeing as I fell naturally straight away the first time we tried...

I don't know where to go from here. Do I see a fertility specialist? Do I give up? My man has two children and I so want to give him one that is ours. We found each other so late in life, he is the love of my life and I want to have his child...

    What do I do now?

    Hi Leisylou,

I'm sorry to hear your doctor was not very understanding. Most of them aren't they don't get it how bad we want a child. Don't give up hope i'm 38 and DH and I started trying when I was 37 my doctor was not very helpful and really didnt want to give me a referral to FS as i have high blood pressure told me to fix that first. Anyway long story short I found another GP and asked for referal and to assess blood pressure issues he put me on BP medication that you can take during pregnancy & he gave me the referral to a fertility specialist.

FS was very understanding and talked about all the issues of being older etc...and the actual chances of it happening percentage wise. My AMH levels are off the chart because he actual diagnoised me with PCOS and I had not known I even had it which has now helped get me on the right track for TTC.

I would go and consult a fertility specialist and see what they can do for you quiet often with woman aged 38 or up they try a few options then onto IVF but with 40 or over they go straight to IVF there are so many options out there if IVF doesnt work there are egg donors and surrogates. IVF is really advancing too apparently there is a clinic in Melbourne who does amazing work.

Have you also heard about COQ10? you can buy in chemist & its in vitamin section in woolies etc...and it's said to improve egg quality.

    http://ivf.successrates.org/coq10-ma...logical-clock/

Get a fertility specialist and a good one. You will need a referral from your GP but if they won't give it to you just find another one who will. Don't give up the journey is not easy but the reward at the end will be worth it.

BH is a great place to come and find info, vent, rant and get support all the lovely ladies in here are so helpful and have a wealth of knowledge on various topics. & Good Luck.
