    Default Christening..

So DH and I are getting DD christened. We both have reasonably big families. Not sure if we should have something more intimate with immediate family and a few close friends or have something big and invite everyone.. Any thoughts?

Depends what you like doing. We had small and intimate with immediate family only, no friends. To us, it was a very private, personal thing to get our children baptised, so the celebration reflected that.

We're doing a combined christening and 1st birthday, and are just having our parents, siblings (and their partners and kids), our grandparents and close friends and even by limiting it to just those people, it's still 24 people. I guess the post-christening venue will dictate how many you can have, we're having it at our house and just don't have space for 50+ people.

We had a dedication so kind of similar. It was mother's day so just our family was there. I had a bbq at our house after.

I think it would depend on how easy your bub is. .. And how much work you would have to do. A smaller gathering might be easier on you. A lot of people would be much harder work possibly?

I am thinking something small I think.
Im worried about upsetting aunts and uncles cos they would not be invited of it was small.. But then I think we don't get invited to anything of theirs so..

I think with anything is about celebrating with the people YOU want there. . not about people who might be offended. It's a memory you're creating so do it exactly the way you want it.

We just had grandparents, DH's brother & his partner + kidlets and my sister who was godmother. We just let others know we couldn't afford to have a big party.

Comes down to cost too I suppose, I really wanted s large christening with all the family and relatives but will cost a fortune as have large family so me and DH decided we are just having a small one with immediate family and taking them out for lunch after the christening. We want to buy a house very shortly so not really wanting to spend too much.
