Default Has anyone been seeing Dr Andrew Kan of IVF Australia?

I was referred to Dr Andrew Kan of IVF Aust by my GP. Had our first appointment today. My initial impression is that he gives us the feeling like he is in a rush to get us out the door, and I didn't like how he addressed us as husband and wife instead of calling us by our first names. Petty I know, but as I said it's just a first impression. If he gets the results I don't really care how he conduct himself, but I just wanted to hear from anyone else whether he is good? Appreciate it if you can share your experience!

I was still shocked about my experience in IVF Australia 1) The FS Dr Andrew Kan shows no professional manner no caring attitude , he was late almost one hour for hyteroscopic check with no explanation , he did not know my final injection time when he hurried to my egg collection 2) Their Embryol transfer with no ultra sound service 3) the worst thing is that only because they do not work during weekend ( they only open Monday to Friday day time) they asked me to wait and put more injection to hold nearly matured eggs from Friday to Monday . This made my eggs dropped and they even know that will happen. When I asked them why could not consider patience's enmergency , they simply said we did not work during weekend if it dropped then it has to be . They are not 24/7 hours, only Monday to Friday normal time, How can such sensitive IVF medical process get normal work time as a retail shop? They wasted our money , time, hurt our health, emotion. 4) Their Sydney CBD York Street clinic blood test , average tried three times to get a simple blood test done, the most times six to get one blood test done, changed three nurses, and I am only a normal shape healthy person with no difficulty to get blood test in any clinic previously. 5) The FC Dr Andrew Kan could not give any better prefessional advice, his words' the level is just like somebody got information online, he also lied and covered himself with no guilty for my eggs overtime . Every consultant time he seems in rush and no patience answering any question he run away from egg collection surgery straight away with no any explanation or advice to me. 6) the whole process I did not feel being serviced by medical professional , only being called by several nurses which do not know more than ourself. We do not know" why""what ""how", just feel only pray for luck. We are highly educated professional and we can accept any result if we have tried our best and doctor tried their best to provide good medical service. We have repected lots of doctor in our life who are high professional standard and best work ethic and deserve the full respect and trust. But this time with IVF Australia is totally disaster. This is just a group of money diggers with no work ethic , worst operation procedure given it is specialised medical area that links to people's life and health. shame this happen in Australia. Shame to this kind of low class money digger.

It's sad there are so many FS out there with horrible attitudes. When I told the first one I saw that I had PCOS he laughed and said, " oh, of course you do it's like the in thing now" WTF
The second one I saw asked me about my weight and said, "did you weigh that much before you were married or did you just not worry about it after you got married?" Another WTF
The one I'm with now is absolutely marvelous, she holds your hand at the start of egg pick up, knows and remembers our names, occupations, where we live and our sons name. When we miscarried she saw me in the waiting room and ran over to hug me.
I guess my message is feeling comfortable with your specialist is such an important thing, throughout the process you are in such a vulnerable position that the added stress of not feeling comfortable at appointments is not a good thing

Not knowing your name might seem petty but it means he's not interested in knowing you and won't bother remembering specifics of your case. A good FS remembers everything. I ran into Lynne Burmeister who was my FS but I hadn't seen in 6 months. I was doing a donor cycle for my sister through her, in a lift. I said hi Lynne, and she said oh hi wise enough. I mentioned I had just had a scan and she looked at the results and recalled we had lowered my dose this time. I was incredibly impressed that the busiest FS in Melbourne recalled who I was and what my treatment plan was.

I would make an appointment at another FS.

As a PP said IVF isn't a mon- fri business. Her experience should be enough to put you off.

Tania33 thank you so much for sharing your experience. I have been waiting for someone to share their review because I can't really find any where that offers reviews of which FS is good. I am about to start my IVF in about 2 months time when I see your review. I must admit I am now doubtful about doing it. I am not sure now whether I want to continue with him and how do I go about changing my FS. Do I need to go get a referral and start all over again? What did you do after your procedure? Can anyone recommend a good FS in Sydney?

Sweetiepup ask on here who people recommend. Then get a new referral to that person.

Tania33: I see your negative post about IVFA on several threads. I am so sorry that u have bad experience with them. Having an uncaring FS certainly adds in the stress and disappointment. They are conducting patient survey at the moment, I encourage you to send in your feedback.

I am with IVFA. All the way from WA. Believe it or not, my FS is the only reason I stay with them while I have a better choice anywhere else in the east coast for what we are looking for. There aren't perfect but I had dealt with enough clinic here in WA to say that their service is better than most here.

Sweetiepup: yes, you will have to get a new referral. Some fs specialised in certain area, like low AMH. If you aren't looking for a specific and would like names for IVFA dr, pm me. I can recommend a few.

Default Has anyone been seeing Dr Andrew Kan of IVF Australia?

I'm with IVFA as well, Sydney CBD. My first blood test had to be done on a Sunday and had to go to the clinic in North Sydney; same with egg retrieval. Nurses were super nice and sympathetic. My FS was in charge of the egg collection but when I woke up from the anaesthesia he was nowhere to be seen.
I guess not all of us get a caring Dr. We are giving them a go though, as this was our first cycle (got cancelled because of risk of OHSS). In your case, I'll try to get a referral for another FS. IVF treatment is hard enough to have to deal with an insensitive a***hole. I don't have much experience, but you can start a new thread asking for recommendations.

    Xx
