Default When to announce pregnancy to dying first time grandpa?

Hi Everyone, Husband and I are 6 weeks pregnant (5 and 5 days) and we cant wait to share the news on Christmas Day with our families. (12 weeks is on Dec 21st). We are booked in for our 8 week scan on November 20th and 12 week scan on Dec 20. This will be the first grandbaby for both sides. My dad (grandpop to be) has been battling bowel and liver cancer for 2 and a half years and he has, in the past two weeks, become bed ridden due to increased morphine dose and lack of food intake (mainly liquids and soft food diet). He is still mentally there but physically exhausted and weak. We want to tell him as soon as it is safe to do so but I feel Christmas Day maybe too late. Thoughts?Thank you

I'd tell him now. He'll feel so special to know you wanted him to know.

Definitely tell him now. We lost my mil recently (quite suddenly), and we never got the chance to tell her she was going to be a grandma again- DH wanted to wait until after our first scan but it was too late. Tell your dad while he is still in a state to know what is happening, it will bring him (and you) so much joy through a difficult time xxoo

Tell him now. There is never really a 'safe' time in pregnancy, yes chances of something happening decrease after the first trimester, but I think you will regret not saying something if he were to get sicker and not be able to communicate.
