Default My tummy hurts all the time!!

Hi guys, I guess I am looking for a place to whine safely. t is embarresing so I dont realy talk to anyone about it. Bubs is almost 15 months now and I still have alot of issues. went to the GP last week thinking I have ulcers but apparently I am getting some so he gave me antacids to help my tum heal itself....It is not working and it still hurts. I also have an Ambilical Hernia. Now here is the TMI part. My tummy workings is something between gastro and constipation and its killing me running for little bits of runny eek.

During my pregnancy I was on Antibiotics, blood pressure meds and strong painkillers just to help me make term. I was mostly on bed rest crying my eyes out for most of my pregnancy thinging I am going to loose bubs. I did not, she is happy and very healthy, but I think I damaged my gut some how.

If anyone has any advice or can just point me in a direction of which kind of person I should go and see, it would realy help. It has been going on for months and it is getting worse.

Antacids won't do much if you have an ulcer.
You need a protein pump inhibitor.
You can buy over the counter a drug called pantoprazole (it's not cheap but it works) you should take that for a couple of weeks to let the ulcers heal.
Best thing though is to go back to the GP. You might need an endoscopy to evaluate the extent of the ulceration.
Also get him or her to do a helicobacter test, it's a bug that's quite common that can cause ulcers. If you don't clear the helicobacter, you'll not get rid of the ulcer.
Stay away from spicy, acidic food in the meantime as they will make it more painful.
Don't take any non steroidal anti inflammatory drugs for pain (neurofen, Voltaren, naprogesic), they will make the ulcer worse.
What you need is a referral to a gastroenterologist.
If you are in Sydney I can refer you to a few good ones!

Thank you, he gave me Somac...I think it is a protein pump inhibitor. I dont take pain meds anymore, the fast acting panadol had me spewing. I had ulcers before but I cant remeber feeling this exhausted and sick all the time.

Somac is pantoprazole, so atleast he gave you the right drug.
I'd be inclined to ask for the breath test (to check for helicobacter). If you don't have helicobacter, the somac should do the trick but will take a couple of days. You can use antacids for symptom relief while taking the somac if you find it helps.

Thank you for your patience with me BubblesK. I was on Iron supplement and decide suddenly to ditch it...gone is the cramps and the sick feeling. I am still exhausted but not always in pain...and my pants fit again.
