How do you know that they weren't too busy? Shopping isn't always a big lark, or maybe they were shopping *with* someone- a friend they wanted to catch up with for eg. I wouldn't automatically think it odd or get upset. Will you see them at Xmas? If I was interstate for a wedding for only one weekend and was going to be back for a quick Xmas visit in a couple of months I might prioritize friends I won't see at Christmas over family.
I've gone longer than 10 months seeing one of my brothers and we live a few suburbs apart! We are close, just both busy I guess.

I would be upset more then angry. The same thing happened to my dp a few months ago. He is originally from victoria and his brother, his gf and their son were up for a week and my dp tried to call but no answer but the one time his brother answered he was 'too busy doing stuff' and the next morning he was back in Victoria. Dp was pretty upset as all his family lives down there and hasnt seen them for a year. I felt bad

If it was *my* brother I'd assume he had a reason BUT I'd still call him to go "dude you better have a good reason!" and I'd be hurt and confused if he just didn't want to make the time for us.

If it was df and his brother, it happens often, usually his brother is around for work, but he doesn't get time to visit or would rather see his own friends etc so it's not biggie and their relationship is quite different to mine and my brothers.

This is what I was thinking.
