Default Centrelink question - ok to receive whilst on holiday?

    Hello.

So I've been on centrelink now for about a month. I got fired from my job and have been having a really hard time finding work. So my sister offered to treat me on a trip to Thailand for a couple of weeks for New Year's to brighten my spirits. Is it a problem to still receive Centrelink for 3 weeks while I'm away, especially if I'll still be applying to jobs on Seek while I'm away? I don't think it should be a problem, but now I'm worried.
    Thanks for any tip.
    Regards, Helen

I'm pretty sure you have to notify them if you are going out of the country. I think if it's a small amount of time and you have notified them it doesn't cause any problems.

Best thing to do is call them tomorrow. Enjoy your trip

If you are on newstart allowance - it's not payable when overseas. You would have to reapply when you return.

Parenting payment can be paid while overseas
