I once made scones that were rock hard. I've never seen anything like them. The chooks wouldn't even eat them. Haven't made them since lol.

I can bake. I mean, really bake. Got it from my mum and nan I guess, both seasoned CWA chicks from "the old school" lol.

I can do crocembouche, macaroons, and complicated types of cakes. Give me basically any recipe and I can pretty much nail it first go, I just have a knack.

But scones. Can't. Make. Scones. To. Save. Myself.

    !!!!!

My sil makes awesome scones. I was so impressed I asked for her "fail proof" recipe.

Yeah... Not fail proof at all.

Wow, I'm not painting myself to be a very good cook in this thread!

Two days ago DD asked if we could make a rainbow cake. We carefully weighed our mixture into four parts and put it into separate tins... then put them in the oven without the colouring!! I don't know how I forgot, the colouring was sitting right there on the bench!

This is my most epic failure to date. I have to preface this by saying that I've made white sauce on the stove a billionty times and I've also made it in the thermy many times.

So, making white sauce in the thermy, the EDC recipe book right beside me and I carefully measure out 50g of butter, 50g of milk and 500g of flour, start it cooking and wait for the timer to beep. I came back to slightly moist, hot flour.
