Default The out of pocket costs of going Private

I'm considering having our pregnancy (not yet pregnant) at Frances Perry House in Melbourne, possibly under the care of Dr Huon O Sullivan.

Has anyone had experience with him?

Just also wanted to know what the true out of pocket costs are, apart from the bed costs covered by private health insurance.

Specifically I'm wondering about paeds, anaesthetics (Epidural or caesar)...

What were you out of pocket in total?

Hi there! I didnt have my ds at Perry House but did go private at another. My out of pocket expenses were:
Ob $3500, paed $500, spinal block for csect $1000
I did get a little back from medicare on those bills but not a lot. All hospital stay and theatre costs covered by my private health insurance.
    Hope that helps

    Hi
There is a great section on the NIB website which advises on the costs of having a baby. It breaks it down by week to advise the expected tests , apts and costs, medicare rebate and amount NIB will cover if you have PHI. Greatly assists with budget planning. My OOP expenses with my last child were about $5000.
