Thankfully we rarely get kids door knocking but the times we have, they have been 15/16 yos, not dressed up. Me thinks someone is door knocking with the Munchies next time I'll check for red eyes lol

On a serious note though, about 3-4 years ago we had 2 teenage girls knock, not in costume, I politely said I had no lollies.... we found our car egged the next day. not cool

I don't love it or hate it but I do not like strangers knocking on my door at any time of day :/ there's a huge American army base out here so we see it every year, they do the proper scary costumes and decorate the houses so it's more "traditional" and not so much the sl#tty nurse costumes.

...but they do say "trick OR treat"

Heh I'd best think of the "trick" shouldn't i?!

I wouldn't get my kids out to trick or treat but don't mind if the kids come to the house. I'm happy to give them choccies, DS1 loves watching them come to the door too 😀

I wouldn't mind being in USA for it though! From what I've seen on TV it looks like a lot of fun and some houses/family go to a lot of effort and looks pretty scary!!

We are dressing up and having a BBQ with our neighbors. My kids will give out lollies, but won't go trick or treating.

Not a fan. It seems to be gathering so much momentum here recently.

I'm a Halloween grinch. Every time someone knocks the dog barks and that wakes up DS who is hard enough to get to sleep. I put a sign on the letter box and another on the door not to knock because of sleeping baby. Seems to work.

Just had this conversation on facebook. I don't get into Halloween. Our boys love dressing up but they can do that in their own home and have so much fun doing so. They won't ever be out walking the streets and annoying people for sweets. Glad we have secure fencing with a locked gate so we can't be annoyed, good luck to the kids if they want to try and be smart and get into a yard with 3 dogs

The kids have a Halloween party at preschool, then I will let them knock on the doors of our immediate neighbours in the street, or I'll invite the neighbours over to play trick or treat games.

I like Halloween. I like watching my kids dress up. I have some wrapped lollies put aside for the local kids. I really don't see the harm in letting the kids indulge in some fun! And I don't see why skeletons and all the other Halloween stuff is so wrong either?
