And to think I have a friend who has been ttc for over 8 years and has tried everything and can't get pregnant, she would love a boy or girl. This makes me sick to think some people, not all, can treat abortions like a lucky door prize. I'm sorry if that sounds rude, but I think it's repulsive.

I would rip into her and tell her exactly what I think of her and her husband
This is not the type of people you want to be friends with, God knows what she is capable of. If you can do something like that then in my eyes you are capable of anything. Truly evil actions.

I am wondering what this test is. Currently in Australia gender selection is extremely difficult to obtain and only via ivf. It is for conditions of a genetic variety that are gender specific. Even then with a genetic condition present the selection process is very difficult to get app priced fog and is signed off on by multiple independant drs. It isn't done for gender preference or family balancing or the parents request.

If that was my BFF, we'd no longer be friends. It's wrong. Very very wrong.

The OP is talking about the female having a test at 9 weeks to determine gender, not embryo selection. Not sure if that's the same thing.

I couldn't support that. Even asking her not to discuss it wouldn't be enough. If she happened I fall pregnant I would always wonder in the back of my mind if she's terminated prior to this child. I think it would be a deal breaker.

I had the Verifi blood test done when I was about 13 weeks along, as we had a high risk of downs. They also check for sex chromosome abnormalities and so are able to tell you the gender with 99% accuracy. The test can be done as early as 10 weeks.

You have to get a referral for it though and I shudder to think what doctor would find it ethically okay to let them go ahead with that testing if they knew what purpose they would use those results for.

I agree with so many here - I think what they are wanting to do is so wrong and incredibly selfish.

I'd also be pointing out to her of the many reviews showing the results to be incorrect. Many are with a result of female fetus when it's actually a male fetus
