I'm not much different to how I am irl (if I wouldn't say it in general conversation I won't type it).

I do sugar coat things from time to time, especially if I think someone is feeling vulnerable or upset. Most times though I just try to be as clear as possible, and I try to keep an open mind

I don't always agree with the majority and I don't mind speaking up about it, although I am coming to the realization that sometimes people won't change their opinion or even try to see the other side of things (which is fine, but now I read those types of threads with a grain of salt, and am less likely to respond).

I don't sugar coat but I occasionally will hold back if what I think will see me end up with infractions.

My pet peeve is 'I'm sorry but.....'

Why say you're sorry rather than own your opinon?

I actually left the Hub for quite a while because I got so frustrated with people who were unable to hold a civil discussion. Maybe that's because when I first came here, I came looking for help and understanding, and was so grateful to find it ... I felt I owed people the same sort of support as I received.

I only reply to something if I think I can help, or if I feel the other side of an argument needs to be represented. And if I can't put forward an opposing argument that is respectful and reasonable, I won't. I don't think of that as sugar-coating ... I think of it as good manners.

If someone is repeatedly rude or truly objectionable, I may be less tactful.

I try not to hold back.

Lets just say though that after coming super close to permenant ban I learned to be more careful with my wordy words.

Those were some good times. Ahh good times.

Ive learned a few forum tricks. How not to get infracted whilst still sticking it to the wo- man.

    I might write a book.

Nope, I ran out of sugar a long time ago. I also regularly partake in the, err, 'busy' threads on the most taboo of topics at times. That said, if I can't say something remotely constructive without risking insulting someone then I chose not to say anything at all. As cold as it may sound I usually don't care if someone's 'offended' although I don't life 'offensive for the sake of it' type posts. I'm offended by many things but that's the price we pay for living in a free(ish) society.

Tip - if you think someone may need a verbal telling off then I always find it better to take the approach of asking them why they are thinking or behaving in that manner. Seek first to understand!!

Not really. I enjoy a good debate which should never get personal, despite people's beliefs but after apologizing to VicPark in the last thread I was in that wasn't a fluff one, I've decided to not participate in them until I'm unpregnant again. I simply don't have the patience for them or people in general, actually.
I find sugar coating to be annoying, but I also don't believe having the "vag" to call someone an idiot is non sugar coating. It's just being a b1tch and hiding behind your "no sugar coatingness". I think tact goes a long way and I'm a big tough love kind of person so sugar coating doesn't really work for me well.

Yes, there is a difference between sugar coating and being tactful/mindful of others experiences.

Sometimes I just can't be effed writing the whole 'whilst x is a valid point of view, I think y. That's not to say that those who do z are wrong either', etc etc.

I usually start writing something and then give up because it can be too long winded at times to be diplomatic & I know someone will jump on it if I don't make those disclaimers.

So I guess I'd rather say nothing than sugarcoat.
