    Default Really high hcg...

I'm staring to get concerned over my hcg levels. My lmp was 27/8 and I generally have a longer cycle (average 33 days). I did a HPT on 1 Oct which was positive. Anyhow, I got around to going to the Dr on 8 October (6weeks according to lmp, less if adding days for my longer cycle but I also am fairly certain I O'd earlier due to monitoring BBT, CM etc etc and a BT on CD21 confirmed I HAD ovulated though that didnt tell me when). Now I finally made it back to the Dr to get my blood test results and my HCG level is 71000.
Does that seem ridculously high to anyone else? I'm having a US this week to check bubs size and what not but I did some googling and saw the words molar pregnancy and also that it could be indications for downs etc and now I'm a bit freaked.. This bub has been such a long awaited addition to our little family

Hoping it will be something not bad - just naturally high hcg or multiple I don't know anything about the other conditions you mentioned - hopefully someone else will be able to put your mind at ease. What did your doctor/specialist say?

Thanks Little Ted. The Doctor didnt really say anything about it. It was someone I havent seen before as my doctor was running incredibly behind so the slotted me in and I figured that I was only grabbing results so it didnt matter who I saw. But he was a little hard to read. He did sort of do a double take and ask how many weeks I was when he read out the HCG level but never said he was concerned. I am booked for an ultrasound though, so perhaps he didnt want to say anything until after that..
He sent a referral for me to the early pregnancy unit because of some other issues that he said I will need to see them about.

Try not to stress might just mean twins! Or you might be a few days further along then you think as the range for 7-8 weeks goes to 229000 there is such a wide range for what is normal in pregnancy!

When is your ultra sound? Unfortunately that is probably the only way to tell. Ask them to bump it forward as you are concerned.

Mine has been high also & my u/s shows a normal early progressing pregnancy.

Stay away from Dr Google, I too had stressed over my high hcg levels

My theory is I just have naturally high hcg

Dinky Doo mine was 8060 at 4+5 so based on doubling times I prob would have been around the same as you at 6 weeks. I started with twins but one didn't continue to grow. Other bub is doing great though. I've had high levels with every pregnancy, it's just one of those things that varies hugely from person to person. Ultrasounds are much more accurate for dating and viability. Can you book in a scan soon?

Thanks for the kind responses - I have got a scan booked already so will just have to wait until that happens to ease my mind a little I suppose. At least that will rule out a molar pregnancy at the least and tell me how many are in there!! DH may just die if there is more than one hahah

Actually that does sound very high! I am currently 8 weeks and 4 days and my hcg result that was taken a week ago was around the 10,000 mark. Hmm you might have more than one When is your ultrasound booked for?
