Good luck Amy and Stacey for ttc next year. I don't have much advice on Melbourne clinics but I have two friends down there same sex who flew up and used our Gold Coast clinic for ivf because they found it easier than using a clinic down there. I know that the wait list here is virtually non existent for donor sperm but can be years long in other states.

My best advice would be to make a few phone inquiries to ask about donor wait lists a if they work with same sec couples. Wishing you the best of luck

    Thanks ErinJess,
seems like a lot of people made their way up there for the baby journey. I have contacted a few today and the waitlist is only a few months so that's promising. I was shocked when one clinic quoted me $1800 just to get on their sperm donor database. I'll keep looking around but I'll keep my options open and perhaps travelling might be the way to go.

    Hi Amy and Stacey,
I'm based in Melbourne, and did a bit of research into clinics when my partner and I decided to try to conceive earlier this year. There are three main Melbourne clinics- Monash IVF, Melbourne IVF and city fertility. There is also a low cost IVF clinic in dandenong (byo sperm), and a Clinic in Ballarat.
Each clinic has their own waiting times and programs, but none offer donor sperm from the US. I looked into trying to import, but it was very difficult (the US clinics don't generally fulfill the requirements of Victoria).
The clinics recruit their own donors, so the number they have varies. Some have only 2-3, some up to 15. However, as our friends said after they had their baby, you only need one....
My partner and I met with a dr from one clinic, and it wasn't a great fit, so did a bit more asking around and ended up at a different doctor and clinic. They had no waiting lists, and I have posted previously somewhere on bubhub about costs from the clinic and doc.
We're still in the process of trying with a third IUI planned for next month, before moving onto IVF if needed. Fell free to ask any questions via the forum or PM

Hi Amy & Stacey, good luck for your journey. As others have suggested the best way initially is to call around the clinics. I found that there were big variances in prices and waiting times... As well as other variables to take into consideration. And the cheapest or on the flip side - most expensive both have their pros and cons. After speaking with a few you'll be better equipped to know what to ask and expect from the Specialists and their team.

Addit - pending on your circumstances and given your time frame it may be worth having an initial now to waver your waiting time or alternatively consider travelling interstate.
Also, some US Banks are willing to work with Practitioners directly... That maybe worth a thought?

DP and I used imported US sperm because of the profile we were given. Photos were important to us and so was health. We went through QFG and Xytex. For an addition $30 when you get pregnant with your donor they give you a MASSIVE amount of information with plenty of pictures etc. This was important for us so DD could know her biological history and appreciate the man who helped Mummy and Mamma have her.

Thanks so much for the advice guys. I'm just figuring out how much information is out there and how many decisions there are to make. I'm hoping we can do it here in Melbourne but if not, seems like Brisbane is a very popular place

Ladies, need some advice!! We had a FET last Thursday so now 1 week into TWW... Have had minor cramping the last couple of days and today had a really sicky feeling, at first I thought was hunger but it stuck around after I are lunch and didn't go away for a few hours..

Our blood test is schedule for Wednesday but wondering how soon we might be able to do HPT? Given it was FET I'm on estradiol and progesterone but no trigger or anything like there would have been with fresh transfer so there shouldn't be a false positive should there?

How many days was your embryo? We tested 7dp5dt and got a very strong BFP. I'm a poas addict and would definitely test. I would think that you wouldn't get a false positive.

We transferred a 3 day embryo. think I'm going to POAS Saturday morning, agree I don't think there's much chance of false positive but I'm almost desperate to find out what's going on in there!!
