Mamalinz as MrsErin said you didnt do anything wrong. The embryo stuck (and a term my fs has used which I think describes it well),it lost its puff because there was something wrong with it. Remember women of all ages produce abnormal eggs, unfortunately we over 40s produce 1 in 9 that are normal. (This stat always gave me hope) anyway it's better to get the answers and then you know in which direction you need to move.

Mrs Erin I'm sure Nick will set you in the right direction. When I went to see him for a second opinion he had a few more tricks up his sleeve which we hadn't Been offered before. He offered to give me the stem cell therapy, this was quite extreme but at this point I had done 7 Stims and was 2 months shy of 43. Time was ticking and I still wanted to try with my own eggs.

Own eggs - we got 6 eggs at retrieval and 5 fertilised. However only 1 developed normally to Day 5.... I've already asked DH for another but...realistically I doubt we could win the lottery twice...

Mamalinz, you didn't do anything wrong, my FS told me after my MC, that it's almost always about the embryo, not about you

MrsMac, how are you going? I hope you get some answers soon

MrsErinR, hope your FS gives you some good news and will help you move forward

Twocam, how are you and little Leo going?

Kelly, glad to see you made it over here

TeamPanda, Em, Myheart, Bertie, Ann, Luca, Octoberbaby, ertgirl and anyone else reading. Hope you are having a great weekend, weather is just great here!

Just waiting for my FS appointment and the results of the CGH testing. Hoping to stim again soonish and try to add to the bank before the old eggs get too fried

Thanks so much for the great suggestions - Mammalinz, MrsErin, Team Panda this is just such amazing help to me. I've been flailing around alone in this TTC IVF over 40 thing for some time now and it is so nice to have some experienced advice.

Switching to a FS who is experienced with older women is very tempting to me.. I am with Melissa Cameron at Melb IVF and she has been fantastic so far.. I see Lynn is at Monash (as is Nick?). I have a counselling apt tomorrow and will find out then how long I have to wait on the donor waiting list before I can start my cycle. I've been told a 10-12 weeks wait which stresses me a little as I don't want to lose too much more time. I wonder if Monash has similar wait times. I will call them tomorrow and start making some enquiries I think. Hard to know if I should switch now or attempt one cycle with my current FS.

I am also considering just enjoying my perfect bundle of joy. I am going to get the results of the D&C and I kind of dont want it as I am convinced it is my fault and I did something incredibly stupid.

Kelly - welcome ! and good luck. I use Nick in Melbourne and he does a lot of work with us older ladies.. He got me pregnant with my own egg when no one else could!
    team panda - Hello
MrsErinR - what is an immune work up ? Good luck with your app on Monday !

MrsErinR - I hear what you are saying - I do .. but I am terrified to get the results to find out it was a perfect embryo and hence my fault. As my DP just pointed out I am being illogical and until I have proof otherwise I cant blame myself. so .. the jury is out till Nick gives me the results.

TeamPanda - what is the stem cell therapy you speak of? I did the colarodo with Nick.. I have not heard of this other protocol.

twocam - you give us all hope ;-)

    Springrain - thank you

Kelly70 - yes Nick is at Monash as is Lynn.

ATM - feeling better surprisingly .. looking at my daughter and being reminded what a miracle she is .. just a miracle and how grateful I am for her ..

Kelly I havent heard of your fs but if you feel comfortable and happy with her then stay with her. This whole journey is hard enough as it is, its important to feel that your fs is working for you. Both Dr Nick and Dr Lynn are very busy and there is usually quite a waiting list for both. I don't know what the donor waiting time is like at Monash.

Mamalinz the stem cell work he does is meant to be quite experimental. He has had some success with it. When he spoke to us about it, it sounded quite full on but I was willing to try anything at that stage. I have the paper work at home but never quite got my head around what it involved. I can check for you if you like.

Hi girls ...I am alive but only just, can you believe after all that, all of those doctors I almost died on friday morning because of a ruptured ectopic. I am just now coming back to the real world of what happened and what myself and my poor husband has gone through. I lost 2 litres of blood. ?..2.22 is bleed out apparently?? Needless to say my choice is made about trying naturally now...no tubes remaining. I am still in hospital, may be out tomorrow we will see...I havnt done the appropriate bowel movements and not looking forward to it as I have 24 staples. My poor husband really has been through quite a bit at least I was out of it and oblivious. DH is on a mission to find out why the hell it was missed...as I said not sunk in to me prop yet ive only just been half off drugs today
