Dont think your fears are irrational..I would say predictable and understandable...for people that go through so many difficulties to get where you are, surrounded by others going through a similar journey. I can gather the majority of cycles do not end in bfp so you would lean the other way. I can also understand being detatched...me at 40...cannot imagine myself being a mother...some kind of pessimism as well that is a bit of self preservation. Its something that happens to other women..not me. I understand.

If my husbands sperm analisys is fine how often does it need to be redone? What I mean is he is booked in for his the morning of our first consult in 10 days now I know most likely they wont do much with me until I lose more weight so if it takes me 3 months will his tests still be current?

Mrsmac, I'm not sure how often they do them but it could be good for him to do it now. If its a few months before you can start then that is also a few months for him to deal with any issues that might be shown in his test. I think it is about 3 months for sperm to regenerate so if he starts on vitamins or a change of diet now you'll be seeing the effects around the right time!

    MrsErinR.... fingers crossed for you

MrsMac.... good on you re: the BMI. I think you, or someone else, asked a few days ago about my clinic and BMI (I was travelling and could read but couldn't post a reply, sorry). My clinic had a policy of no IVF if BMI is over 35 - allegedly their research showed greatly reduced success rates with higher BMI. However my FS had her own personal upper limit of a 30 BMI and thyroid level of 2.5. She is a specialist reproductive endocrinologist and patients with thyroid conditions traditionally have more trouble getting pregnant and a higher BMI makes it harder to manage thyroid levels. Thus her preference for lower levels. I just checked my notes again and my BMI was just under 30 at my first consult (yes she got out a calculator and worked it out!) but my thyroid were borderline too high. By the I got to cycle my thyroid was down enough that she would proceed.
