    This.

Dr Catherine Hamlin and her late husband opened a hospital in Addis Ababa (Ethiopia) purely to assist women who have suffered obstetric fistulas. Medical treatment is at no cost to the patient and they also receive a new dress, blanket, shoes and basic literacy and numeracy classes. The hospital is entirely funded by donations. They even will fund medical care for the women if they have to go elsewhere for additional attention.

Despite being something like 88, Dr Hamlin still performs surgery one day a week. Their mantra is that they fix the whole woman, not just their fistula. It is truly a remarkable place. I know someone who visited it recently and described it as an oasis among the chaos that was Addis Ababa.

    Does boystown house lotteries count?!
DH got talked into a monthly donation to make a wish foundation.
I've always wanted to sponsor a child burnout sure what organisation is best (ie where most goes to the child/community and as little as possible towards admin etc costs).
