Default Samsung Galaxy S3 died suddenly

Woke up this morning and went to check my phone and nothing. Had a text message just after midnight so it was working then. After doing a google search I found that sudden death is a fault with the motherboard. Lucky it's still under warranty but it means I lose everything on the phone. I'm really bummed. Anyone else had the same problem and how did you go getting it fixed?

Yep, a few months ago I had this.
Took it back to the shop I got it from, begged the IT guy to retrieve my photos, he tried and tried, normally he fixes everything, but he couldn't get anything off it.
So all my photos (and no, I had not backed anything up) and phone numbers and everything else on it (bike chain codes as I have since discovered ) were all to disappear, as they sent it away to get reset, and it came back as a clean slate as it did when I first got it.

I try not to think about all the photos I had on there.

Oh no I didn't know this could happen! Looks like I'm backing up today.
