    Default Prednisolone (adults)

    Does anyone know if the tablets cause weight gain? I've been the same weight for 18m and have just finished taking 2 tablets for 3 days + AF at the same time, I have gained 1kg on the scales!
    I'm really annoyed!
    I'm not sure if it was the tablets though.

    What mg are the tablets?

    ETA: sorry hit post too quick.

    Weight gain often in a short time frame (like your 3 days) is more likely to be bloating and fluid retention than proper gain so it should drop off quite quickly after you wean off. Your appetite isn't likely to have increased enough in 3 days to be solely responsible.

    Doses as weight/mg related but for me a 25mg dose is huge and when I was in it long term it took about 6 months to get proper weight gain and the full moon face. After I started to wean down the weight plateaued out and slowly stopped and came off (that was bad for me).

    Pred will not itself cause weight gain but it will increase appetite that in turn increases weight.

    yep, i put on heaps on it...I was on it for over 2 years. I sincerely believe it has messed me up weight wise for ever

    The tablets are 25mg.
    I think then it might be more fluid + having AF/period at the same time.
    I don't really remember my appetite increasing while on it though.
    Thanks for sharing. It's only 1kg so hopefully I can shake it off soon. Sometimes it's the little amounts that stick forever and refuse to budge!

    Yeah I agree in such a short time it is more likely fluid.

    I put on a fair bit of weight when I was in it, I got really bloated around the face too.

    I've been on 25mg for 7 days and got AF too (horribly painful so I'm blaming the pred for that too!) and I've put on a kg as well. But it's definitely bloating for me, can't stop peeing and it doesn't feel like weight gain, my clothes still hanging off me. I hope for you that's all it is, it's horrible stuff in the main but geez it helps.
