I had a S&S when I was 4 days overdue with DD. FOr me, it was very painful. It was 3pm when I had it done, and I don't know what I was expecting, but I was a little let down come 9:30pm and nothing was happening. My sister had called me earlier in the day and told me that every time she had a S&S she had gone into labour a few hours earlier.. so I guess I just assumed I would be the same.

I woke up 3am the next morning in pretty well established labour- contractions coming at me 4 mins apart and lasting 1-2 minutes. I don't know if it was coincidental or the S&S caused labour to begin.. (I *still* maintain it was the trauma of watching Patrick die on Offspring! )

I had a S&S done at 40+1. I was 2 cm dilated but not effaced at all.

The S&S was done Wednesday morning, I started to have period pains in the afternoon, lost my plug the next day and was in active labour by Friday afternoon. Good luck!!

my first sweep at 40 weeks was similar to yours, she couldn't really do it as cervix not very favourable. But a week later things were much better and bub was born 4 days later after the third sweep. midwife said the cervix improved each time as my body prepared itself. I also did acupuncture and expressed colostrum, plus regular sex all to try to induced labour.

How many weeks are you? Maybe just wait a bit longer and let nature take its course without worrying about being overdue. Everyone's body gets there at different times!

A day later i felt like i was on my period
The 2nd day after the s&s contractions started hard and fast.
