    I actually use to do this, I had the expidet shelving from ikea. Then I realized how important for the imagination it was for them to be able to play with multiple sets of toys at once..for example a train track can be mixed with the animals to make a safari, with duplo/lego to make a city. Every time I tried to separate them I thought of combinations . I can totally see how it works for younger children though
    I have expedit shelving too and all the toys are in fabric baskets in it but he just goes to each one pulling things out and never actually playing with it. There is too much choice I think and I need to simplify it. I don't mind him making a mess but I'd like it to be for a reason.

    there are heaps of articles to be found on the subject but I found this one sounded simple and easy to do. I've started my lists already.
