I know I'm late, but can I please join??

I need to Lose 6 kg, but will be happy losing 3 in this challenge!

    My main priorities are:
Start exercising 5 days a week
    Swap soft drink for water
Limit alcohol intake to 1-2 nights per week
    No takeaway

I have horrendously bad habits, I eat loads of junk including takeaway, I never exercise, I never drink water, I'm sure I drink too much....... I really need to overhaul my lifestyle!

Today has been good so far:
Breakfast - 2 slices of peanut butter toast
Lunch - ham and salad sandwich
Dinner - shepherds pie and steamed veggies

I also went to the gym for an hour and have had no soft drink! Yay!

It's a real eye opener isn't it? I got a shock too. The great thing about it is it makes me think before I eat something, instead of just popping it in my mouth. Now as I'm eating I'm updating the diary so I don't forget any incident snacks

In terms of what I am eating I've done a lot of reading over the last few months and combined some different ideas.. I try to eat 5-6 small meals a day, 2-3 of those meals protein only. So for example my typical eating day might be:
Breakfast - 2 soft boiled eggs, with 1 piece of toast (grain) maybe 1 day a week only
Snack - small amount of leftover meat (chicken, steak), or a tin of tuna
Lunch - huge salad with meat (chicken or salmon usually) and a little olive oil
    Snack - boiled egg
Dinner - salad and meat again, though at night I tend to eat red meat
I rarely need a snack after dinner as I eat late, about 8:30 usually. If I feel like something else I have a cup of chai tea with a little milk and that usually does it.

I've also started recently to read more about no sugar/no fructose which is something I am starting to introduce. I have never really eaten much processed food but trying to cut down on what I did eat regularly - sauces etc. I do try to avoid carbs as well hence bread only once a week, try to never eat pasta or rice except for the very rare occasion, this is just because I find they make me really bloated.

I'm certainly happy with how my eating is going so far, I have lost 6 kilos in about 2.5 months - not a huge loss but at this rate its more likely to be maintainable rather than losing quickly. I had also been the same weight for at least 5 years and no matter what I did I couldn't lose any, so I'm pretty happy!!

babylove let us know how the quinoa porridge goes, sounds interesting!

    How is everyone else going?
Sounds like you are doing really well. 6 kilos lost, you must be very happy with that. Looks like you don't eat much sugar, I try to do that too but it's not always easy to stay away from it, do you crave sweet stuff?

Question: how do I know how many calories are in things? I've tried reading labels of things but they say kj's? How does a kilojoul compare to calories?

    Does that even make sense?!
