    Default Help tummy sleeper

Ds is 11mths old and rolls all over the bed and cot. We cosleep with side carted cot.

He has started sleeping on his tummy with his face in the mattress. Totally freaks me out.

How do I stop it. If I roll him onto side or back he just rolls back. If I move his head to side he cries.

I'm petrified he going to suffocate

My dd is 10 months and started doing this at 8 months. I'd put her on her back. . she would immediately flip to her tummy. I totally freaked out!!! Our paed said it's fine. .. good head control etc by b that age etc is usually there so don't worry. My dd has been sleeping like this now for 2 months cuddling a muslin up near her face too! She's fine.
Try not to worry. I know I did but you don't need to.

So it's normal for a tummy sleeper to also have their face down in mattress?

You can't do anything except ensure a clear, firm sleeping surface. He is getting bigger and likely moving a fair bit under his own steam. Try not to panic about it and remember that if he can get himself in that position he can get himself out of it.

My DS2 (8 months) is a tummy sleeper. He just started doing it, I leave him. He's happier on his tummy.
They can move their heads better now. He usually sleeps face down with his face resting on the back of his hands or with his head to the side.
I found him like this the other day....cuddling doggy.

My first tummy slept from 3 months And my second from about 4. Once they rolled over I couldn't possibly stay awake and check them every 5 mins and roll them back. When I was a baby it was standard to lay babies on their tummies . I just put my boys in sleeping bags with just a fitted sheet in their cots .

sounds weird .. but he might find that comforting??? I have been a tummy sleeper since I was born .. and both my boys have slept on their tummy pretty much since they could roll ...

I cant sleep any other way - so I'm not surprised he rolls back ... its what I would do .. lol

I know its hard not to stress
