I am only about 6 weeks pregnant and am already experiencing severe constipation. I know i cant take laxatives, i have been drinking lots of water and having quite a bit of fiber. Does anyone have any tricks? Im in serious pain.

And if pear juice doesn't work ( it is excellent) the next step I suggest would be Lactolose, which you can get at the chemist.

Psyllium husk (health food section of supermarket or health food shop) will work wonders & it's natural so try that before anything from the chemist. Good luck.

Pear halves and licorice allsorts. Well, those sound nice anyway. I'm so excited to hear that pear juice works as well as prune juice. I can't stand prune juice, but I love pears. Never had this issue again and it would be amazing to get it under control with a delicious juice. Thank-you for asking this question, kisherrie. I'm sure you've helped many other women too.

2 teaspoons of psyllium husks stirred into a warm glass of water & then chugged down before it goes gluggy. Then chased down with a second glass of warm water. All natural, no additives and it really works. I have been taking it daily for years, it's brilliant at keeping things going I buy mine in the health food aisle at Woolies - an $8 bag last for months and months.

I hope the pear juice works for you, but if not, try the prune juice. It will work! Also, try a small bowl of yoghurt with fibre sprinkled on it with breakfast. All the best.

If you have the psyllium you have to up your water intake otherwise it can cause further constipation.
Kiwi fruits are very high in fibre so munch a few of those as well.
As PP's have said prune juice or dried prunes themselves work wonders, don't eat too many or you'll get the squirts!
Is say eat no more than 6 the first time and see what result you get.
