Default just read this one and wanted to share , Mother's heartache at death of toddler hange

    http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/arti...lind-cord.html
One moment she was a happy healthy child. And then she was dead': Mother's heartache at death of toddler hanged by a window blind cord

What a tragedy! We have vertical blind at home and just did a brief googling and it is such a safety hazard to children. I will be taking action tomorrow to make sure there are no blind cords or chains within the reach of my son.

There was another incident similar to this not long ago. A little boy was in his cot and his dad went in to check on him, thinking he had gone quiet because he had fallen asleep for his nap but found him sitting in the corner of his cot choked by the cords on their blinds. Tried resus but unsuccessful.

I'm pretty sure there are safety devices you can buy from spotlight (I think) for blind cords.

I feel so very much for families that have experienced this.

Blind companies in Australia have a whole lot of safety guidelines they now have to follow including the hooks to wrap the cords on. And if a blind fitter sees unsecure blinds they, by law have to point it out and offer to fix it on the spot (costs like 5 bucks). Its all very strict now. It would be heartbreaking for the parents who have lost their children.
