Hi, please add me to the 12th after AF showing up yesterday!! Btw, we have just started ttc baby #2, my current dd is almost 2. She was a surprise so I have found it really hard trying to relax and not think about it.. We have only been through 2 cycles but it is constantly on my mind. Last month I was so sure, as had so many symptoms and just felt it, but it wasnt to be, fingers crossed for Nov.

Mrs Tugs - I'd told DH about that and he joked about keeping the lube tube!

Kkm - Welcome! Yes relaxing is hard. The 12th is yours! Hopefully you'll be able to give dd a sibling soon.

Need a moan people -sorry Just had a really poo day, and because I am a droopy draws and moaning minnie I've convinced myself I'm not ovulating now, and need a load of friendly smilies - which I don't even have a right to at all, as its not like its a MC or even a BFN (or something like loosing a leg or something horrid happening to someone I love or something, or a starving child etc etc - god I need to get a grip lol).

But still sad face today - can we all shout at my body please and tell it to pull its socks up

    Thanking you lots

Haven't had a chance to keep up with all the goss on the thread (stupidly busy now schools have gone back), but hope everyone else is lovely and happy still with lots of lovely positive things happening for them

Look here body, (not you - your body is the one getting the talk), suck it up princess, get a can of harden up into you and pull your socks up!

(Now for some positive talk for your body) You can do it!!! (Happy-Maddison film-style) Millions of billions of women's bodies do it, so you can too

(In all seriousness) If you would just like to see where your body is at - ask your lovely gp for a typical day 21 blood test for p4 (progesterone) (to do 7 days after suspected ovulation). It's nothing for them to write a quick referral for the bloods but puts your mind at ease if you think it isn't happening.

After trying for some time (the first time) I felt my hormones were out of whack and went to a doctor (mine was o/s). She laughed at me and told me about the birds and the bees in a really condescending way. When my doctor got back she sent me for bloods straight away and funnily enough I wasn't ovulating.

What makes you think you're not ovulating?

    a) thank you for stern words and hugs - body (and mind!) need both lol.
    b) oh, thank you for info on Australian medical system - that's very nice of them to allow that (am OLD school medicine here, where you don't ask, don't question and certainly don't ask for things to do with anything doctor-y lol - weird considering my family all being doc/nurses etc etc). Does it cost loads (medicare)? Or do you know if its usually covered by extras health insurance (they did send me a book, but there are SO many things in it and they all have weird names and stuff) if not medicare/costs an absolute arm and a leg?
Not that I wouldn't pay for stuff, but as hubby is still in the 'we're not really trying hard' camp I don't think I can convince him we need to spend money on things if its mega expensive lol
c)I HATE condescending doctors -last one I saw over my suspected thyroid was a bit of an idiot like that (the whole 'its easy to loose weight, just eat less and move more - that's what I'm doing and I'm loosing a kilo a week'. Good for you idiot, I'm not and that's why I'm here grrrr....) Glad you managed to see your normal doctor and sort it out eventually

The only things that make me think I'm not ovulating are:
    1) I'm paranoid and I really want to be UTD (as do we all!), therefore it is the law of sod that says there is something 'wrong' with at least one of us (and I'm self centred enough to think its me lol), and not ovulating would be a good start.
    2) I'm PCOS likely, but not competely (does that makes sense? IE I have a few of the key markers, but not hugely, and knowing other things about my body and how it works, it tends to be wonky, but not by enough to actually be diagnosed with anything ever)
    3) I don't seem to get much on an OPK (admittedly only from trying spottily last cycle and from trying from just after AF this cycle) whereas other people seem to get more (ie I've only ever been able to get the faintest of faint faint faint lines on one)

So nothing other than being an idiot I guess, but you know how it is lol

Thanks again though for the listening - that's why this place is great

Boxcat - I wish I'd been more confident earlier on. The doctor can choose to get the bloods bulk billed or not. Our doctor bulk bills them, but our specialist often does not. Though I asked him last time and he marked a couple of them as bulk-billed for me, but not all of them. A simple blood test costs about $120, but if bulk-billed costs nothing. Needless to say the specialist ones have cost me over $500 this year alone.

However, seeing as you haven't had too many cycles, unless you really feel as though something is out, you could wait a few more cycles - it depends on the attitude of your doctor and whether it helps you sleep better.

Which PCOS symptoms are making you think this?

My symptoms were long/irregular cycles, acne, easy weight gain. Coupled with blood tests that revealed low prog, insulin resistance and scan of polycystic ovaries.

Oh thank you heaps for the info on bloods etc...not being from these here parts it's all bamboozling lol. I don't really have a doctor as such just know of a local ish clinic that bulk bills (most doctors don't around here it appears or you can't get on their books) so hopefully they would bb a blood test. ..guess if nothing is happening in a bit I will investigate further the whole just being able to ask for a specific test is all new to me lol

With regards to symptoms etc...I've had about 3 or 4 docs say they reckon I have it in the psst due to the way I present (for other things) but as there wasn't any treatments (other than 'loose some weight you fatty' lol) there was never any point, along with baaaaaad acne mainly cystic (but my mum still has it at nearly 70 so get it from her), I'm quite furry which has gotten worse over the years but is more like fine downy blonde hsir rather than coarse dark facial hair, supremely easy weight on and hard to get off (mote than just being a piggy wig lol) buuuuuut...I haven't ever missed a period, don't have hair loss or any of the other symptoms so not sure myself its 'proper' pcos but rather just slightly dodgy hormone levels....I kinda think even if it is though surely there isn't really anything they can do other than try to alleviate it through diet, which I'm trying to do anyway (low gi, calorie controlled, lots of veggies, slightly less fruit, lean meat and pulses and stuff like that etc).

    Anyways....thank you once again

Yep. ..that was the last condescending doctor lol...had them done a few years ago and they were border line (I have more thyroid symptoms than pcos imho including freezing hanfd and especially feet all the blooming time) but had them done in January this year and they were a little squiffy but not off enough to indicate I actually have an under active thyroid. ..which is quite typical of me...bit squiffy but not actually anything wrong with me lol.
