    Default PHI Excess Change

Hi there, I have PHI with BUPA for more than 1.5 years (served all waiting periods). Currently on $500 excess.

Can someone give me an idea if I lower my excess (change from $500 to $250) then would it impact my waiting period. Will I have to serve all waiting periods again? I know lowering excess would increase in my premiums. I called BUPA but consultant didn’t sound confident and couldn’t provide me any written information.

    Thanks

Impact your waiting period on what tho? If you have served all your waiting periods then what other waiting period would it impact? your best bet is to call them again, they are the only ones who can tell you for sure.

If the cover is otherwise the same the most likely you will have to wait to access the $250 excess. Eg if there is a 12month wait on a service and you use it after say 6 month of changing your cover you will still have to pay $500. But you would still be eligible to use the service at the higher access. But its probably best to call them again to confirm this.

Thanks. It is clear now how it will impact. I will also check with BUPA again.
