I thought that said "kangaroo mice"... And opened it and was horrified for a moment.

Anyhow, ive cooked kangaroo burgers at home and they smelled weirdly like dirt. I couldn't eat it, it was the smell I couldn't get passed.

Though I'd think mince in a sauce would probably be less intense.

Kangaroo meat definitely doesn't smell very nice while it's cooking! BLERGH!

Glad you couldn't taste the difference though OP. Given how lean it is, I think it's a good choice... cheaper than lean beef mince!

I'm not keen on it myself (cos it stinks when it's cooking) but DH makes a con carne with it and says its delicious. I'll just have to trust him haha.

I can't remember who said but why can you eat other meat and not think 'OMG it's a cow' but think OMG it's a kangaroo lol?

I think it must be some weird way the brain is wired. I love lamb, it's one of my favourite meats. Went out for a degustation dinner recently and they had lamb on the menu. I was looking forward to it. Tasted ok, had a strong lamb flavour to it though. Ate about 80% of it before the waiter came over to see how we were doing. I asked what cut of lamb it was. He said tongue. I tried to eat the next piece and gagged so hard I almost vomited all over the table. It's all psychological. The moment I knew it we as tongue I couldn't do it, never mind that I'd been eating it fine just prior.
