Default Anyone had genetic testing done at Monash ivf

    Hi,
I have just changed clinics from CFC to Monash ivf seeing Luk Rombauts.
I had 4 stimulus cycles at CFC with a total of 8 transfers all together all negative. We did CGH with cfc where it was sent to Brisbane for testing. We were disappointed with the results 6 day 5 blastocysts tested 2 abnormal, 1 normal (negative) & 3 came back with no result.
We are about to do our 1st cycle at monash & looking to do genetic testing that gets sent to America & I was wondering if anyone has had this done? How long did the results take to come back? Were u happy with the process?
    thanks

Hi, yes we attempted PGD in jan of this year. We had 4 frosties in the freezer and thought we would do another stim so we could hopefully send 8 to America which was the max number they would test for $3500. Anyway I had 6 eggs fertilise out of 10. They grew them to blast and when they tried to remove the cell from each they just couldn't handle the insertion of the probe. From what I understood they were to fragile to have pgd performed on them . In the end I lost all of those blasts and we asked to have the others thawed. One of those didn't thaw, another discontinued growing and we had the remaining two transferred on day 6. No point having them tested. I ended up with a chemical pregnancy. We were going to attempt pgd again in my last round and then cancelled it. I was quite worried about the same thing happening again and DH thought it was a lot of money if we only ended up with a couple of blasts. As it happened I transferred 2 out of 4 blasts. We got no frosties, but I am pregnant. Pgd was purely for my 'advanced' maternal age, and the fact that I had 6 bfns in a row out of8 Stims. Fs said all probably due to chromosome issues.
By the way the embryologist rang me at numerous intervals during that weekend to let me know what was happening. They were very good but ultimately it did not work for us. hope this helps.

Thank you for your reply & congrats on the pregnancy! We did CGH at CFC due to numerous BFNs but didn't really get any answers . I'm 28 &have unexplained fertility however we have poor fertility rates so thinking its an egg problem & hoping that monash will be able to give us some answers.

    Hi Lizzie,
I'm having SNP array testing done at Monash. We have had limited embryos but just sent 2 off to America, one a perfect looking day 5 and the other a Day 3. We are very fortunate that the blastocyst came back with a normal result, which is wonderful so I am now undergoing a FET cycle, with transfer due on Oct 1.
If you haven't had it done yet, ask your specialist for a Karyotype test - that is how my translocation was picked up. Doesn't make things easier, but just helps give some answers.
    Wishing you all the best.
