Default 2 year old SCREAMS when put to bed.

My dd used to like bedtime and we didn't hear a peep out of her after she was in bed at 7pm.
The last fortnight she has been screaming terribly (not exaggerating) when put in her cot.
Is this a common stage that they go through?
Or perhaps it's related to molars coming? I've given her panadol tonight as I noticed she was chewing on her hand.
She's also been waking at 5am and sometimes crying in the middle of the night

IS it possible she has sore ears?? Quite common for them to cry when lying down and waking in pain.

DD is 23 months and has been waking crying during the night and waking early for the past few months. I have put it down to molars on their way but I think a little bit of it is also separation anxiety. She has always resettled herself and never wanted a cuddle during the night but now she is always up for a quick cuddle before resettling.
