Default Glucose tolerance test and feeling sick

    Hi ladies,

Had my glucose tolerance test this morning (2hour one where you fast overnight and have 75g glucose). About 50 minutes into it I started feeling really faint and thought I was going to black out. The pathology lady actually came up to me and asked if I was okay, and then took me into one of the rooms and I spent the rest of the test lying down.

So my question is, did you feel sick or faint during your GTT? And did you then go on to find out that you had GDM? Or did you pass?

Just wondering if there's a correlation.

This is going to sound really backwards. With my ds I felt nothing I was fine I had gd. With my dd I don't have it and I was close to fainting and had to be told to lie down as I nearly fainted after the 2nd blood test roughly an hour in.

The funny part is with ds I had no symptons at all but ended up insulin dependant. With dd ive got heaps of symptons but ive been tested numerous times given my history of gd and have passed with flying colours.

I felt awful both times, spent the entire 2 hours lying down in the room, attempting not to vomit or pass out or something. It was awful.
I passed really really well, both times.

I think that if your body is working really really hard to process it, it can make you feel sick. Not sure though.

I felt like this the first time round with DS1 and I only did the 1 hour test. The pathology lady actually took me out the back and made me lie down until it was time for my blood test (this was about 20 minutes in). I felt so sick and so faint! I passed though!

Second time round I was really worried about feeling like this again but I was fine!
