It's good to start taking the for at least 3 months BEFORE you fall utd so getting straight on them is a good idea for anyone ttc :-)

Hmmm... I'm 25 so I'm pretty sure my doctor said I would be up to date with most things from high school and work.

Has anyone else had to do any tests BEFORE TTC?

I did all the usual blood tests. When you are ttc instead of just accidentally utd, it's fairly normal to do an array of blood & ursine tests, as well as a pap, std & swab.

I only take folic acid. I can't take any of the other multivs because they have iron in them and I have haemocromatosis which means I have too much iron.

    Yes I did a bunch before DS1
Just go to GP and just tell them your TTC and want work up done. STD, HIV, are all good places to start plus a Pap smear if you haven't in awhile.
You'll get your antibody levels checked during pregnancy - my body doesn't take to the MMR immunization. My ABs always come back as low to that one

When we were first ready I had some blood tests to check for my immunisation levels and any deficiencies. I never had chicken pox and unfortunately had to have a jab and was told not to ttc for 3 months. That was a frustrating delay! I also had to change some medication so at least I know I'm all safe now.

As for vitamins my doc only suggested folic acid.

I had thyroid function checked, Vit B12, Vit D, chicken pox checked, glucose, cholesterol, and a few more I forgot. I also chatted about what medications not to take (nurofen, migraine tablets, steroids, anti inflams) and I got whooping cough done which they wanted me to wait a bit before TTC.

Oh an I got a Pap smear done too.

They should have results quick, but people have the tests done on their first prenatal visit if they haven't been done before. So don't stress too much about it.
