I would much rather listen to the department and other refugee agencies who can actually state what the policy is.
Who was the 'horse'? I have not heard anything from 'the horse's mouth'.
I read into THAT that the words of asylum seekers experiencing these issues (the proverbial horses) is not good enough for you as a source of information about what they themselves are experiencing and I find THAT a bit weird actually, but if it makes YOU I feel better to believe those in authority (the perpetrators) rather than those in detention (the victims, if you will) then believe what you like.
Stating what the policy is is pointless. The policy can be viewed by a million people at any time but that doesn't change what is actually happening. You surely know that just because something is policy that doesn't mean that is how it is carried out.
