I get what you are saying Father, but I think you know as well as I do, that it ludicrous to think that any Australia government would ever allow anything like a million per year into the country, even 10% of that would never happen. I find it funny that you are trying to use it as an argument. Just because 20000 + came last year, does not mean that it would keep rising every year. You are trying to make out that the rate of increase could possibly lead to a mil plus refugees per year and that is just laughable. Seriously - but it is.

I am not saying that 20,000 per year is unsustainable. I think that that number is, so I don't need to find 'evidence' to the contrary.

I'll quote my several statements back for you:

I'll say it again - the rate of increase is not sustainable.

Do you need me to break that statement down further?

I did not think that that is what was going to happen. It is not very realistic at all. I was just highlighting what I meant by 'rate of increase'. You seemed to continually misunderstand what I was saying.
I would not expect it would have gone anywhere near that number, but it would not have been unreasonable for the number to rise well beyond the 20,000 based on the rate at which it reached that number.
As I mentioned before, the number is not what is important. It is what you would plan to do with those that exceeded the number that we could take. It seems that 'advocates' have absolutely no idea what to do hear other than close their eyes and bury their heads in the sand. If we can't accept them, and we can't send them back, then what do we do?

I wonder how much media coverage has been biased towards the right?

Taxpayer funded media? I would suggest '0'.
Private media can do what they want. Just as people can choose to not spend their money on it if they don't like the content. And yes, that includes The Age.

The abc said it was happy to accept the criticism and deal with it appropriately. The vast majority of their reporting was found to be unbiased though- can private media say the same? No way. Yes, they can do what they like, but considering their influence, should they not also be a bit more balanced? JMO.

Amazingly, the ABC's mediawatch has finally admitted to 'alarmist nonsense'.

Maybe the ABC is getting better.
