Really not that hard Father..I am surprised that that you don't understand that. That is the question I was answering.
I am not asking what the cap should be. I am asking: what happens to those who arrive after the cap is reached?

I assume this is the question with which you are referring?

    No, I am not.

If I was aboriginal, would I be permitted to remain on my high horse???

My ancestors migrated legally with appropriate paperwork.

    Does that answer your questions?

Maybe now you can help out beebs, Atropos, BigRedV, Delirium, and the rest:
What happens to those who arrive in Australia after the cap has been reached? What do we do with them?
So far, no one has even attempted at answering that question.

We'd have to know what the cap is first surely? What happens to people now when he cap is reached?

Really? This country was taken over completely illegally at the time. If it happened now days it would be called an "invasion" and would be considered warfare.

How could you possibly know that your ancestors had all their paperwork in order, because that is what has been passed down the ancestor line - that is hearsay. Nothing more.

I haven't not replied to you father bc I don't have an answer to your question. On the contrary I do. I just can't be bothered engaging with you any longer. I don't feel like I'm having a passionate discussion but playing a chess game with a rather obnoxious opponent.

Time to unsub. which is a real shame. There have been a few in opposition to my views like John that at least was open to new POV and who speaks to people without PA and snark. It amazing the effect it creates where someone disagrees with you but is decent about it - bc you in kind return that gesture and the thread moves along smoothly.

BH really needs to get a twitchy eye emoticon....

We put them in detention, whether on-shore or off-shore for processing and a spot to become available - here or elsewhere.

Because Australia was a Federation with laws of which they had adhered to.

It would have been much easier just responded with your answer.

There is detention, and then there is detention. If detention did not mean keeping people in for years at a time, separated from their families/children, and treated like criminals. Then I wouldn't have such a big problem with it.

How do you know that? Do you have evidence? Do you have their documents? It's hearsay unless you have physical proof in your hands!
