Mental illness I guess, I'm saying nothing because I'm too black and white on this one.

So just reading between the lines a bit, I take it the mother was jailed immediately, and is now up for parole, but the father has only gone to jail now since sentencing?

Yeah so am I. They're both to blame, equally.

I've never suffered from a mental illness but I find it really hard to believe that you could be suffering that badly that you could starve your children.

Being eligible for parole does not mean he will get it, irrespective of how well he has behaved in prison. The seriousness of the crime is taken into consideration and I doubt very much he will be released when he is eligible. John Lennon's killer, Mark Chapman, was eligible 13 years ago and is still in prison, so lets hope this animal stays where he is.

There was a HUGE thread about it all when the Mum was sentenced, with people sharing their personal experiences with mental illness, and the terrible effects it can have. If you've never been through it, it really is VERY difficult to understand.

Yes that's why I am so reluctant to have a say as it would disrespect so many ladies on here I have a lot of respect for.

Plus it doesn't bring those babies back, all anybody can do is keep your eyes out for somebody in trouble and don't ignore it. Those babies were so let down.

I guess I'll never understand it then.

I like to think that I'm very open minded and can have empathy for others and take their circumstances into consideration, but nope not in situations like this.

I'm really sorry if my opinion upsets anyone but it's just how I feel.
