Wow, that's a lot of lists.

Here's my six list for today

    1.drink coffee
    2.drink coffee
    3. take kids out somewhere I don't have to entertain them too much
    4. feed them processed overpriced food for lunch
    5. drink coffee
    6. sleep

I've been up since 4.30. This thread is too peppy for my brain right now.

I found the idea on a blog

I have "the big list" where I write EVERYTHING that I want to get done around the house (hubs and I just finished building our house - owner/builder so there's quite a lot of things), anything I want to organise, buy, make etc
I put it all together so again it's not swimming around in my head, keeping me awake at night.
I then make my "weekly goals" - I consult the big list and see if there's anything I can start, continue with it finish- its broken up into:
-Cleaning task (usually something from my monthly cleaning)
-Organise (something I wish to organise- like cupboards, filing etc- currently I'm cleaning out our filing cabinets)
    -home improvements
    - business (anything that needs doing for our business)
    - project (usually something I'm creating, at the moment a photo wall)
    - outside (currently, fertilize vege patch)

It's very rare that it gets all done in one week, sometimes 2 or even 3 items roll over to the next week.

    Then there's "the six list"
This idea came about because a man went to a steel company in the 1920s and gave them the idea of the "six list". He said to each employee, at the end of every day pick the six most important things you need to get done the following day in order of priority and write them down. Then Fi them, again if you don't do it all just let it roll over to the next day.
He said to the owner, don't pay me for this advice but after 90 days pay me what you think is fair.
When the time was up he was paid $35,000 (a lot of money back then!) and was told it was the single most productive piece of advice they had been given!
So that's what I do, each night I pick six things I want to accomplish the next day, usually it consists of one of my weekly goals and five smaller things like - phone so and so, answer a particular email, drop dry cleaning off, book an appointment.

I've been using this method for about a month now and it's amazing what you can get done!!!
It's great because anyone can use it.

Try it, it will change your life!
I like the 6 list idea and i love this thread.

I work well with lists so i have a dot point list for each room in the house, takes about 45 mins a day 6 days a week. In addition i keep up with laundry and dishes. Works for me. Of course im due with #1 in 4 weeks so i expect things will change....

Then just do the six list when that times comes for that crazy time. Even if they are teeeeeeeny tiny things like "wash hair" or "phone nanna"
At the end of the day you will feel better for doing something, I know I do when all I can manage is the six list some days

I don't live in it. I shoo everyone out the door at 6.30am, I coax a bunch of people down the road (the school) to keep him inside their fenced yard while I go off and make myself look busy by meeting people all day (work) to discuss how we can best use our time effeciently to make the most money which they then go and pay a percentage to me and I go and pay a percentage to another lot of people down the road (ATO) who then pay a percentage to the people down the road (the school). Then I go home and enjoy my lovely clean house.

I clean as I go, just autopilot. I don't have any lists.

I get it from my granddad I am sure. He's always cleaning.

This week I have let go! It feels amazing, I am ignoring the mess like everyone else that lives here does. I find I am actually getting stuff done, important things, it is fabulous! Considering I work I am not sure how our house gets so messy, but I am loving this new carefree me!!

With great difficulty DD is miss destructo & DS bedroom looks like a cyclone hit. I have mt washing which I swear breeds while I sleep
Daily I have to change cat litter & sweep & nag at DP to do the dishes cause I hate doing them. My house is lived in clean. Not overly tidy neat freak & not slobby dirty either. I try to keep on top of it but its exhausting
