Interesting. Where DH teaches gets $10,640 government funding + $1,831 parent contributions per student
Local high school gets $13,710 government plus $688 parent contributions per student.

For a $1200 difference in cost, I can see why there's a huge waiting list at DH's school- the public high school is terrible, I wouldn't want my kids to go there (which says a lot as I'm usually a huge fan of the public school system.)

That's a good amount of parent contributions MH.

It certainly is good to put schools side by side and compare.

Yes, I was only talking about federal government funding, but the fact is private schools do get majority of federal government funding.

Nobody will ever convince me that this school or others like it need any government funding.

This is the local public high school up the road from Pymble Ladies' College. Quite a difference in state government funding, yes, but quite a big difference in the overall amount for each student. Like way more than double. Not fair.

I haven't ditched out on this thread. But I have a stupid assignment due like now, and I have left it to the very last minute - so I am madly trying to get it done. And then I will be on holidays and then I will be back. This has been one very interesting thread!

In France, childcare, school, hospitals and uni are free and yet doctors, teachers and childcare staff are not under paid... Far from it!
I don't really see the connection between the two?
