My DH and I have been TTC #1 for about 12 months, but as I suffer from PCOS there has been no outcome of a pregnancy. So I tried metaformin for a month and with still no period, put on clomid. I took my first tablet today as I am D2 into my cycle. I am on the lesser of clomid to see if that works, with a blood text D21 to see if I have ovulated and then go from there.

Just wondering how you guys were on clomid and if you had many side effects?
Also, and I know really I shouldn't as I am TTC but did you guys enjoy a glass or 2 of alcohol while you were on it? (no big nights planned but do like a glass of something after a long day or while socialising). I read the instructions in the packet and I couldn't read anywhere anything about it.

Am hoping to use these threads to ask questions, and eventually share some insight after taking clomid to others. Am hoping, as does everyone else of course, that I won't need to take it for long

It seems to be everyone around me is getting pregnant, I am the last of my friends to, with them all appearing to get pregnant first time, or by mistake, so these forums are great to talk to people who are going or have gone through the same thing as me, as of course my friends have no idea what it feels like

    Happy Friday all !
    Hi and welcome @tassiewife

I'm relatively new to this thread too - have only recently been diagnosed with PCOS after trying with my DH for 8 months and no result. I haven't yet started my Clomid but I'm sure the other ladies will be able to help you out with the side effects. Seems as if it's really different for everyone so hopefully you find it ok!

I think the alcohol thing is a personal choice. I really enjoy a glass of wine or two and am trying to keep my life as normal as possible outside of the craziness of TTC so haven't changed my habits too much. But I totally understand people deciding to go the other way too! I think if there isn't anything stipulated in the packet than you should be fine to indulge if you want to

    Welcome Tassie

I've done 9 cycles of clomid non consecutively. My main symptoms are terrible headaches (they are called Clomid Headaches bc they are so common), extreme mood swings, painful ovulation. Night sweats are also very common but I've never got them.

After 3 years ttc, I have a glass on wine or 2 throughout the cycle but abstain 6-12 DPO just in case I'm pg.

    Hello @tassiewife!!

Like Del said - I also continue to drink (a glass here and there) whilst on Clomid.

No luck with ovulating this cycle - but I suppose if I actually did o,I certainly would consider steering clear of alcohol.

I have only just completed my first cycle, and on a low dose. I felt like I didn't suffer much from symptoms - I took my 50mg in the evenings (and it seems a few ladies on here do as well).
I was also fairly sick with a virus at the beginning of my cycle - I did suffer from headaches and insomnia - I don't know if it was medication induced or not.

It is hard when it seems friends and others around you appears to fall pregnant at the drop of a hat when you and your partner are struggling.

    Keep us posted!!

I like your point about trying to keep life as normal as possible during this time in our lives, so I think I will stick to the same thought ! Of course the days after ovulation I may not, just in case

I'm not entirely sure when I ovulated last cycle.. but when I think I did, I had some definite sharp and then dull stretching pains in that area. So you never know, it could be that you are ovulating? Are you having a CD21 BT?
Thanks hopesprings my pain sounds the same as yours did. I had my CD21 BT yesterday and will get my results this Thurs at docs appt. Fx!!

    Welcome!!

Its so hard when others around you fall pregnant so easily and dont understand. I can relate to this!!

On Clomid 50mg my symptoms were night sweats, mood swings, headaches and nausea. On Clomid 100mg Ive had cramping and sore boobs! I think everyones symptoms are different!!

And I am the same as others... A drink here or there and try to stay away from alcohol mid cycle until AF arrives just in case!!

Thanks heaps to everyone passing on their clomid symptoms! Take my final tablet tomorrow and so far no symptoms... Fingers crossed I ovulate in the coming days/weeks of finishing my AF (I think that is the abv for period) !!
Am taking my temp every morning, and have the ovulation kits to give a go. Any suggestions on when I start taking the Ovulation tests as I have read CM can not be as noticeable when taking clomid.

I haven't posted in a little while but I have been following this thread. Well, my first cycle of Clomid was a failure (didn't ovulate) so my GYN put me on Provera and upped my Clomid dose to 100mg.

I'm on CD21 with no sign of ovulation so I'm pretty sure this cycle hasn't worked either. I'll wait another week and get a progesterone blood test to be sure, but I've decided to now see a different specialist to get a second opinion and maybe a different approach.

First time here so hello to all 😊

My fiancé and I have been TCC since Xmas 2012 to no avail. Have seen fertility specialise last Thurs who is concerned that I am not ovulating and possibly am low on eggs?
I have been prescribed clomid 50mg which I will start this cycle. I go back to my FS on the 21st July so will be possibly only going thru one cycle of clomid before the next step, which was mentioned as a laparoscopy?
Been a roller coaster of a ride to get this far, hence looking for support and coming to this forum. Look forward to meeting you all 😊
