@Amiracleforme I feel that way all the time!
@Mia P I was monitored for my first 2 cycles of Clomid but a friend of mine wasn't monitored for her first couple so I'm sure it's common. If you want to be monitored though can you call the specialist and ask? Or just make an appointment for around day 10!

Oh @Sullo08 that made me laugh - that sounds like something I would do!

    Me - 30, Dh - 38 ttc #1 since June 2011
natural bfp June 2012 - mc 5.5 weeks; 4 cycles clomid; 1 unsuccessful ivf.

Hi MiaP, I'm on my third cycle and not being monitored, I have a CD21 blood test to check if I've ovulated, our FS then rings me to tell me and advises on the dose for the next month. We go back to see him after 4 cycles.

AMiracle4me, I feel like that a lot. My best friend has a 6 month old but is pretty sensitive about it. One of my friends announced her pregnancy on Thursday and I really struggles to write back an email congratulating her. I ended up with a three liner response... I just felt like I didn't have it in me to fake more than that! Then, after that, I get upset at myself for being selfish! Can't win... We are starting to think about how our life would look without children and you are right, there is a lot of other stuff that we have in our lives. We will be ok...

Hi wondering if I can join the thread? I am about to start my first cycle on clomid nxt month in roughly 2 weeks, I am having a laparoscopy at the start of the month so hopefully all my endometriosis will be clear! Feeling nervous and excited!! We have been trying for 3 and half years hoping this works!! What kind of side effects should I be expecting?

I am new to this - actually see the FS tomorrow, but am expecting to be put on Clomid. Just wondering why you guys say this is your last cycle/last chance - is there a limited number of cycles you can use it for? Or is it a cost thing? Or do they say if it doesn't work after a certain number of times that they change to a different method?

Sorry, I hope I am not being insensitive, I am just new and nervous about all this... (I have PCOS - which I also only found out recently)

    Thanks

Hi there, yes generally FS suggest no more than 6 months without at least a few cycles break from Clomid as it tends to thin your lining with prolonged use which is not conducive to pregnancy. I think perhaps also that if it hasn't worked for you in say 4-6 cycles then it probably wont. That's just the opinion of my FS though.

Hey Muzzy... welcome. I'm sorry to hear you have been trying so long with no luck.

I'm on my third cycle of clomid (success in the second cycle that ended in miscarriage) and my side effects have varied each cycle. So I wasn't ovulating at all hence the clomid. The side effects I've had include: nausea, tender breasts, significant bloating, a few stabbing pains around ovulation and a little emotional craziness... I cry at things like ants on the bench and get angry easily. I can manage to keep a lid on it at work which is nice since I work in a hospital! I have heard that side effects are different for everyone and like I said, I've had it different every time.

I also had surgery for endo in September and it took me 2 weeks of recovery before I felt like a human again.

I hope your surgery goes well and your first cycle of clomid is successful. I've found this forum great for support..

    Sullo
