We will see the fertility doctor in 4 weeks now. (I have changed from the obstetrician doctor I had because he couldnt offer IVF from his practice).
I wonder if there is another step between clomid before starting IVF or if we will go straight onto IVF. Phee - did you start straight onto IVF?

I havent done a fully monitored cycle yet so maybe that is next. I am still getting some very long cycles up to 38 days on clomid but with a high progesterone indicating I am actually ovulating. Maybe we are still mistiming BD'ing. Will wait and see I guess.
Hi Mrs Marcs, the other things to look into for you might be clomid with monitoring and trigger injection and IUI. Best of luck x

MrsMarcs we went straight to ivf. Our first 2 clomid cycles were monitored and that was good because you could pretty accurately predict when you were going to ovulate to time bd. As for other steps between Clomid and ivf, it really depends on what your fertility issue is. For example iui could be an in between step, and that can be good if there are sperm issues or cervical mucous issues, but that's not the case for us so it didn't really increase our chances any more than timed bd on Clomid. So straight to ivf for us!

Oh so sorry to hear that Sarahjayneb. I'm worried now that I was not advised to get scans for monitoring. Only on round 2 and my 7dpo bloods were high so doc said that showed that I did ovulate. Do you think that's enough to confirm though?? Or should I be asking for the scans too?? And no, I'm not on metformin, what is that supposed to do?? X

Metformin is a drug that was initially intended for diabetics to lower their blood sugar. Some girls with PCOS are prescribed metformin to decrease their insulin resistance. There is some evidence that clomid + metformin works well for anovulatory cycles because of PCOS.
It has side effects that are mostly gastrointestinal, nausea can be really bad but it can also help with some weight loss which can increase your fertility.

Smiley_ I think if your progesterone is high that is OK. Are you on progesterone too? This makes your levels slightly higher. My FS seems to scans most to check number of follicles and warn me if there are more than 1 good size one. Usually always read in conjunction with my blood test results though so I wouldn't worry too much.
